The CollEX label (for collections of excellence) reflects the desire of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research to identify and promote collections of excellence held in French universities. These collections of excellence are primarily intended for Research. In the field of Education, the heritage holdings of four former Écoles normales de l'académie de Grenoble housed in the UGA University library have received this CollEX label for 2017-2022. These are the collections of Grenoble (Isère), Valence (Drôme-Ardèche), Chambéry (Savoie) and Bonneville (Haute-Savoie). The main collections concerned by this label are those of the École normale de filles de Valence (over 4,000 works) and those of the École normale de garçons de Bonneville (around 2.700 works). The disciplines covered by these collections are: Teaching, Pedagogy, Children's Literature, Didactics and the History of all these disciplines. The collections will soon be catalogued. A group of researchers from laboratories, institutions and universities in the Rhône-Alpes region and Switzerland has already been set up to study and promote them.
