January 21, 2025Saint-Martin-d'Hères - University campus
Every month, the Bibliothèque Universitaire Joseph-Fourier hosts a workshop to disseminate scientific culture: la science infuse. The January workshop accompanies theexhibition presented at the University library Droit et Lettres, and gives the floor to Ioan-Cosmin Popan.
The promise of flexible working and instant delivery promoted by meal delivery apps is one of the latest trends in the platform economy. Platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber have significantly shaped consumer cultures, work relationships and experiences, mobilities and urban spaces. This workshop draws on a three-year ethnographic project with delivery workers in three European cities to account for the multiple ways in which precarity differentially impacts the livelihoods of platform workers.
Conference by Cosmin Popan, post-doctoral fellow in residence at MaCI as part of the GATES project
