Know yourself to learn from others... and vice versa!

Conference Scientific and technical culture
March 17, 2026Saint-Martin-d'Hères - University campus

There is so much to learn in order to integrate and function in the society into which we are born! To begin with, we must understand how to communicate with others, who are the only ones who can pass on our culture and language to us. In her research, Louise Goupil explores the idea that this requires more or less complex forms of self-awareness: distinguishing one's own body and actions from the rest of the world, learning to situate oneself within a complex social network, and evaluating one's own emotions and cognitive activities are all essential processes for learning from others. In return, others profoundly shape our perception of ourselves.

Lecture as part of the Science Infuse series during Brain Awareness Week with Louise Goupil, research fellow at the Laboratory of Psychology and Neurocognition (LPNC).
