Every month, the Joseph-Fourier University Library hosts a workshop to spread scientific culture: la science infuse.
In the wake of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25), we invite you to discover ecofeminist art with Pascale Saarbach, lecturer and researcher in contemporary art history.
Ecofeminism emerged at the turn of the 1980s in Anglo-Saxon countries, drawing its origins from the many citizen mobilizations initiated by women committed to defending the environment, as well as from multiple intellectual currents, including the North American cultural feminism of the 1970s.
It was largely under the influence of the latter that the first artistic productions explored the connections between women and nature, with an ecofeminist sensibility.
This conference will examine some of the pioneering works of this trend, highlighting the significant place of women artists within the ecofeminist struggles of the late twentieth century.
