L1 and L3 training

Training
From the 1st year onwards, students should be able to use university documentation facilities (libraries and websites) and support their learning by using the documentation available to them. A class session dedicated to this initiation takes place in the library.
Objectives: to be able to find validated documents, adapted to their level and related to their discipline.
  • recognize an information need, choose the right strategy to solve it ;
  • find a book (print or digital) quickly.
At L3 level, students are often asked to do an initial task involving documentary research or a synthesis based on a bibliography.
This is the opportunity for one (or two) training sessions run by librarians, usually in the library.

Objective: autonomy in practice through better knowledge of scientific documentation and its forms.
  • identification and use of tools: search engines, catalogs, databases, information portals ;
  • thematic search for information: methodology; identification of key sources, formulation of information needs (interrogation of documentary systems) ;
  • correct citation of the sources used.
